Classical Music, Lisbon Orchestras

Lisbon has a very dedicated classical music scene, with various excellent orchestras, the Gulbenkian Orchestra most probably being the most celebrated,  and its auditorium being world class. The Gulbenkian Foundation also brings several excellent international orchestras and musician to Lisbon.

The Gulbenkian Orchestra and Gulbenkian Choir perform at the concert halls and the open-air amphitheatre belonging to the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Avenida de Berna 45. Tel: 21 782 3700.

The Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa (Portuguese Symphony Orchestra) is based at the Teatro Camões at the Expo 98 site in the Parque das Nações – Tel: 21 892 3470.

Other classical music ensembles include the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.
