Eating Out |
Lisbon is in the throes of a culinary revolution. Having always loved their food, Lisboetas are now challenging the traditional simple fare that was once unceremoniously served with a dash of salad and a few boiled potatoes. Lisbon is discovering that the city is full of undiscovered culinary talent. There are of course a handful of classic Lisbon restaurants where the food will always be above par, such as Casa da Comida, A Travessa, Olivier, Bonjardim, Valle-Flôr and Casa do Leão, but there is also a whole new wave of exciting eateries breathing new life into the food scene, such as Bocca, Bubbly, Estado Líquido, Yasmine and Eleven. If you want something authentic, which will also not break the bank, you are spoilt for choice. The Portuguese, whether wealthy or less wealthy, love dining out, and this ensures that there are literally thousands of everyday restaurants and tascas not far off, often with windows displaying fresh fish and the pungent smell of charcoal grilling. |
