Bota Alta Reasonably priced traditional Portuguese fare. Typically meals kick off with dried sheep’s cheese from Nisa, home-made bread and a bowl of decent olives washed down with an inexpensive house red. Take the waiter’s advice and try the creamy Bacalhau à Brás: a mixture of shredded salted cod, potatoes and eggs all together. One of the Bairro Alto's oldest and best-loved eateries, it is worth reserving a table in advance to be sure of tucking into the home-made chorizo sausages, wine marinated steaks or grilled fish.
