When to visit Prague |
Prague is a traveller’s destination renowned for culture and history. Visitors flock to this city all year long, regardless of the weather conditions. Winters tend to be cold and the summers can vary from cool to hot, but the most consistent weather you’ll likely encounter is drizzle and grey. Perfect if you’re coming in from the U.K., because it will remind you of home. There are some splendid days sprinkled about the spring and summer, but this is one city where you simply cannot wait on the weather. Come rain or shine, there are too many things to see. If the cold doesn’t bother you, then consider visiting (outside of the hectic Christmas season) in the winter, thus avoiding the summer crowds. Of course the Christmas markets shouldn’t be missed either. If you require a little more heat, then summer might suit you best, although you’ll be elbow deep in the jostling throngs, as this is the peak of the tourist season. If you arrive in the spring, the temperatures should be fairly mild, and you’ll be spared the summer crowds, but be prepared for a fair amount of rain. Springtime means bloom time and Prague quite literally blossoms to life. In the autumn the temperatures fall, but this also a time of stunning change. Relish in the hues of the turning leaves and watch this magical city pop and shine. Every season has something to offer. Prague is always ready for travellers, no matter what’s happening outside. The bridges, churches and gallerias don’t care about the rain. In the winter, the opening hours might be shortened, and in the summer you might have to wait on queues, but rest assured, this city is open all year long.
